What do we offer at Kairon Polyclinic’s Prosthodontics Center?

Our experts offer a wide range of Prosthodontics services customized to patients’ needs. Some of them are as follows:

Dental Implants to Replace Missing Teeth

Dental implants are artificial titanium-made tooth roots surgically placed into the jaw bone to support replacement teeth. They provide numerous benefits like:

  • Improved Chewing function
  • Enhanced comfort
  • Natural Smile
  • Preserve jaw bone

Crowns & Bridges for Damaged Teeth

These are dental restorations mainly used to repair and replace damaged and missing teeth.

Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that the prosthodontist places over a prepared existing tooth to restore its shape, size, and appearance. These are made of various materials like:

  • Porcelain
  • Ceramic
  • Metal alloys

Bridges

At Kairon Polyclinic, our dentists use bridges to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) attached to crowns placed over the adjacent natural teeth and restores the beauty and chewing function of the patient.

Both crowns and bridges are custom-made to fit each patient’s mouth and replicate their teeth’ natural appearance and functions.

Dentures for Missing Teeth

Dentures are removable artificial teeth designed to replace the missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Prosthodontists mainly provide two main types of dentures:

  1. Complete Dentures – Replace all the upper and lower jaw teeth with a single piece. It is ideal for those who have lost all their teeth.
  2. Partial Dentures – To replace one or more missing teeth using the remaining natural teeth as support. Suitable for the patient having a missing portion of teeth and healthy and strong remaining teeth.

Modern denture options include implant-supported dentures, which offer enhanced stability, function, and comfort compared to traditional dentures. In this case, the dentures are attached to the dental implants, eliminating adhesive need.

Veneers for Cosmetic Restoration

Veneers are thin coverings (shells) made of tooth-colored materials (porcelain or composite resin) attached to the anterior surface of teeth to create a bright smile, also called Hollywood Smile. Prosthodontists use the veneers to treat various dental cosmetic issues like:

  • Stained teeth
  • Chipped/Cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth (Diastema)
  • Irregularly shaped teeth

Occlusion & TMJ/TMD Therapy

Prosthodontists are specialized in treating bite (occlusion) problems and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ/TMD). These issues can cause pain, discomfort, and dysfunction in the jaw and surrounding muscles.

Occlusion

Occlusion means that your upper and lower jaws fit symmetrically when your mouth is closed. It’s for those who feel pain and discomfort when biting down. It also causes headaches and jaw pain.

Our Oral shapers can correct misaligned bites by reshaping the tooth surfaces, providing crowns or bridges, and recommending orthodontic treatment when necessary.

Sometimes, the joint that connects your jaw to the skull (TMJ) does not work and results in pain (dysphagia), difficulty in opening your mouth (trismus), and sounds while you chew (Crepitus).

Living with these problems might be difficult as they worsen normal routine functions like eating, sleeping, and talking. Prosthodontists provide various therapies to treat TMJ symptoms, such as:

  • Occlusion splints or night guards to treat teeth grinding and jaw clenching
  • Bite adjustment (Dental Occlusion correction) to correct misaligned bites
  • TMJ rehabilitation exercises
  • Medication – Muscle relaxants/NSAIDS
  • TMJ surgical procedures

When to Visit a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are experts in complicated dental work and rebuilding entire sets of teeth. Visit them if you have the following issues and need a fix:

  • Smile Transformation
  • Missing Teeth
  • Creating a Brand New Smile
  • Full Mouth Rehabilitation
  • Complex Dental Procedures

I did Hijama (wet cupping) with Dr Ebtisam Kotkat. I was initially nervous about the treatment, however once I started I could feel the difference. She also gave me an amazing massage and got rid of the knots in my neck. After the treatment, I felt like a new person - refreshed and totally relaxed. I would highly recommend a treatment with Dr Kotkat.

Frequently Asked Question

A prosthodontist is a dental professional with advanced training of 3 years or more than regular dentists in cosmetic and restorative dental procedures like bridges, crowns, veneers, dentures, and dental implants.

While other dentists focus on preventive and basic restorative dental treatments, prosthodontists are specialists in fixing badly damaged or decayed teeth using the newest methods.

The recovery time after dental implants typically varies, but it usually takes a few months for the implant to fuse with the jaw bone.

You may experience discomfort and pain during and after the procedure, but don’t worry; our dentist will provide medication that relieves your pain.

Dental crowns and bridges have a long life of years with proper oral care, but an immediate replacement is necessary in case of wear and tear.

After getting dentures, it’s best to use soft foods initially and slowly move towards harder foods over time.

The veneer results are usually seen immediately after the procedure, giving you a brighter and uniform natural smile.

To relieve pain, try heat or ice packs on the affected area carefully and practice stress relaxation techniques.

After the procedure, you may experience temporary discomfort and changes in the bite alignment.

It takes a few weeks to adjust to new dentures or dental appliances, but our dentist will also help you speed up the process.

If you feel any post-treatment complications, follow your dentist’s instructions, such as avoiding certain foods or exercises and maintaining optimal oral hygiene.
